rosette tutorial.

As promised, today I'm going to feature the fall wreath tutorial. Up first is the rosette tutorial. Please note: I have no idea if this is the 'correct' way to make a fabric rosette. I looked at a bunch of pictures of rosettes and made mine according to what worked for me. So if you've got a better rosette tutorial, please share! Please also note: I don't take good pictures. Ever. These are bad. It was late at night. I was watching the Golden Girls. On DVD. All the cool kids are doing it........

To begin, cut a strip of fabric (I rip mine to give it a more 'unfinished' look). The size of your rosette depends on a few things, one of them being the width and length of your fabric strip. The longer and wider your strip, more than likely, the bigger your rosette.

Next, fold your strip of fabric in half.

Begin by tightly rolling one end of your fabric strip until you have made a 'bud'. (This can be as big or as little as you want).

Next, unfold the remaining fabric, and begin wrapping and twisting around the 'bud'.

Continue doing this with the remainder of the fabric. If you wrap loosely, the rosette will be larger. If you wrap more tightly, the rosette will be smaller.

Leave about 1-2 inches of fabric at the end of your strip. Turn your rosette over.

Take the remaining 1-2 inches, and twist, fold, and attach it on to the back of the rosette to secure it.

Add a bit of hot glue to secure it. And you're done!

I always add some hot glue afterwards in between some of the rolls just to keep it secure. This technique seems to work for any type of fabric (burlap, felt, cloth). If I didn't explain this very well, or you have any questions/suggestions, letta girl know!
